Singing on the Costa del Sol
If you have moved to this stretch of coast and are looking for a way in, a choir is the shortcut. You do not need to know anyone, you do not need to be able to sing, and you do not need to commit to anything beyond a Tuesday evening.
Costa Pop Choir rehearses every Tuesday from 7.30pm at Nerja Coworking on Plaza de España, right in the middle of Nerja. Singers travel in from Frigiliana, Torrox, Torre del Mar, Almuñécar, Maro, Competa and villages across the Axarquía — around twenty minutes on the coast road from most of them.
What makes it different from a traditional choir
No auditions, ever. No sheet music — every part is taught by ear, line by line. And the songs are pop: things you already half know from the radio, arranged in harmony so the room sounds far better than any of us do alone.
Who comes
Adults of every age and nationality — British, Irish, Dutch, Scandinavian, Spanish and more, most of whom now call this corner of Spain home. Some have sung all their lives, plenty were told at school that they could not, and a good number arrived on their own and left with a circle of friends.
Getting here
Nerja Coworking, Plaza de España, S/N Bloque 5B, Local 2, 29780 Nerja. Parking is easiest in the Plaza de España underground car park, two minutes away. Come at 7.25pm for your first night and Georgie will find you a seat.

Practical questions
How far is it from Torrox or Frigiliana?
Fifteen to twenty minutes by car. Several members car-share — ask in the WhatsApp group and someone will usually be passing.
Where do I park?
The Plaza de España underground car park is the easiest, a two-minute walk from the door.
Is it in English?
Yes, rehearsals are in English, and members come from all over. Spanish speakers are very welcome — the songs do most of the talking.
